Under Track Buffer (UTB)

Overview

Under Track Buffer (UTB) systems provide integrated material storage beneath the tracks and operate with overhead hoist transport (OHT) using overhead tracks and material control systems (MCS) for carrier transport above workstations. OHTs (SRC350X / G3X) integrate with UTBs or STBs and carry 300mm and 200mm FOUPs, transporting multiple carriers from the manufacturing line to storage and retrieval locations. The configuration achieves zero-footprint storage and transport, freeing up floor space for production equipment and reducing obstructions on the cleanroom floor. UTB solutions are delivered alongside a (STB) Side Track Buffer configuration and are offered as ISO 14644-1 Class 5 certified solutions. UTB systems are used to store material beneath tracks while OHTs transport carriers above workstations, enabling movement of 300mm and 200mm FOUPs between manufacturing lines and storage/retrieval locations. The zero-footprint storage and overhead transport configuration frees floor space for production equipment and supports cleanroom cleanliness and contamination control in Semiconductor & Technology and Healthcare & Medical environments.
