Model Overview & Specs
Overview
Bel Air’s FMG Series Oblique (Tilt-Barrel) Tumblers use an angled, adjustable tilt-barrel design with variable-speed control and create a controlled cascading motion to provide full media coverage for parts. All FMG models support wet or dry finishing and are built in the USA with rugged welded-steel construction and intuitive operator controls. Tabletop and floor configurations are offered to address different capacity and footprint requirements. The FMG-10 tabletop model has a 1/3 cu. ft. barrel capacity, unit dimensions 22 in. (length) x 15 in. (width) x 28 in. (height), voltage/phase 110/220V, 1 Phase, speed 0-50 rpm, and 1/3 hp. The FMG-10 is a compact benchtop unit with an adjustable tilt barrel, manual tilt adjustment, interchangeable polypro/steel/stainless-steel barrels, a low-maintenance DC motor with drip-proof construction, and variable speed with reverse for process control. Floor models include: FMG-100 — Volume 1 cu. ft., Barrel Bottom Diameter 17 in., Barrel Top Diameter 10 in., Barrel Depth 16 in., No. Flats 6, Speed 19-44 rpm, Horse Power 1/4 hp; FMG-400 — Volume 4 cu. ft., Barrel Bottom Diameter 22 in., Barrel Top Diameter 18 in., Barrel Depth 22 in., No. Flats 12, Speed 10-36 rpm, Horse Power 1/2 hp; FMG-900 — Volume 9 cu. ft., Barrel Bottom Diameter 30 in., Barrel Top Diameter 23 in., Barrel Depth 28 in., No. Flats 16, Speed 10-30 rpm, Horse Power 1.5 hp; FMG-1800 — Volume 18 cu. ft., Barrel Bottom Diameter 38 in., Barrel Top Diameter 32 in., Barrel Depth 32 in., No. Flats 16, Speed 8-24 rpm, Horse Power 3 hp. FMG floor models feature power-assisted tilt with a full 90° dump angle, power-driven dump/pivot mechanisms, electronic variable-speed drives, direct-drive motors with no belts or chains, no-seam vinyl Plastisol barrel lining, and heavy-duty welded-steel construction for continuous-duty production. The FMG-10 tabletop model is described as ideal for laboratories, dental and jewelry applications and small precision parts, while the floor-model tumblers are engineered for production-scale polishing, burnishing, deburring, and surface refinement. The series is positioned to deliver consistent results for both small batches in R&D settings and larger part volumes in industrial manufacturing. Explicitly supported finishing tasks include fine polishing, part-on-part finishing, burnishing, light deburring and edge-smoothing, cleaning, degreasing or oil removal using a solution, drying with treated corn cob media, post-machining cleanup after milling, stamping, or printing, and surface preparation prior to plating, coating, or secondary finishing. The product descriptions also list use with jewelry, dental, aerospace, firearms, additive, and precision-machined components.
