Model Overview & Specs

Overview

TFP-3 Series is a KOMATSU TWISTER plasma cutting machine featuring TWISTER gas flow control (Patent Pending) and TWISTER gas technology (No.2689310, No.2997224) that pushes a powerful downward spiral flow around the arc to reduce dross and substantially reduce disparity between upper- and lower-hole size. KOMATSU describes the TFP 3 series as offering lower running cost, high performance, and higher productivity, with claimed major improvements when cutting steel plate from 0.25in.-1.50in. compared to conventional systems. The machine uses a redesigned plasma torch that can switch from Plasma to Oxyfuel cutting on the same torch in minutes and employs a Single Cartridge consumable that reduces inventory from 6 individual parts to 1 and provides a 60% increase in consumable life compared with the previous style; the Single Cartridge consumable is available only on 200A & 300A plasma units. Construction and motion components include a unitized frame, table sizes 5'×10' and 6'×12', cutting speeds 0 to 200" (process and plasma power source may affect speeds), maximum traverse speed 1000 IPM, a zoned down draft table with KOMATSU "Push Pull" design, X & Y axes that are Rack & Pinion + THK heavy duty linear guide bearings, and a Z axis that is a Ball Screw & THK heavy duty linear guide bearings. Drive and control specifications include FANUC AC Servo motors and Gearboxes on all drives (O% Backlash), Fanuc Oi-Mf Plus CNC Control with a 15" touch screen, 2MB NC Memory, 4GB Main memory, and 64GB External device, FANUC transfer tool via server and USB memory. Cutting capability is specified as: 200-amp Plasma Unit - 16 Gauge to 1.25" Mild Steel, and 300-amp Plasma Unit - 16 Gauge to 1.5" Mild Steel. Quick Gas (Flame Cutting) is specified as 2" piercing and 3" edge start from the side of the plate. Nesting software supplied is STRIKER CAD/CAM Smart Nesting Software, Model SS-NEST, and the original KOMATSU Nesting Software is included with a permanent license key. The TFP-3 Series is presented for plasma cutting of mild steel with a 200-amp unit rated for 16 Gauge to 1.25" and with a 300-amp unit rated to 1.5", and KOMATSU states it achieves major improvements when cutting steel plate from 0.25in.-1.50in. versus conventional systems. Optional Quick Gas (flame cutting) increases mild steel cutting capability to 2" and supports 2" piercing and 3" edge starts from the side of the plate, and the patented "Quicksilver" process is described for clean cutting of stainless and aluminum up to 1". The machine supports switching from Plasma to Oxyfuel on the same torch in minutes, and includes STRIKER CAD/CAM Smart Nesting Software (SS-NEST), a CCD camera for positioning, a barcode reader scanner for one-touch job loading and registration, and an Automatic Argon marking System to support marking and automated job loading workflows.
