VIM furnace MATERIALS VACUUM INDUCTION MELTING FURNACE
ECM TECHNOLOGIES (ECM)
Model Overview & Specs
Overview
The VIM (vacuum induction melting) furnace is a tool dedicated to the elaboration of materials. It has a modular and scalable design and is designed for laboratories and research centers while also fitting into production lines. The furnace can treat volumes from 10L to 50L corresponding to loads from 80Kg to 400Kg, and several capacities can be used within the same furnace since they are commutable. Melting is possible under vacuum or under inert gas with a working temperature between 750°C and 3000°C. Processable materials listed include metals: Cu, Fe, Ni, Co, Al, and refractory and reactive materials: SiO2, Al2O3, UO2, ZrO2, Glass, U, Ti, Zr, Fe. Available options include hot crucibles (refractory, ceramic, tungsten, molybdenum, graphite, platinum), cold crucibles (copper, stainless steel), bottom pouring or tilt pouring, instrumentation such as pyrometer and cameras, multi sampling, oxygen measurement within the melting container, bubbling control, adding additive, sand/ceramic/metallic moulds with pre heating, customization according to expressed needs, and in line integration. Explicitly supported applications include elaboration of new materials for metallurgical applications. The furnace can be used for melting and remelting and for elaboration of high purity materials or reactive materials using a cold crucible. Additional stated uses are vitrification and melting of refractory materials, and the product is presented as suitable for both laboratory/research center use and integration into production lines.
