Multilin G30 – Legacy

Overview

Manufacturing has been discontinued for G30 relays. The G30 is built on the UR platform and provides advanced protection for small to medium-sized steam, hydraulic and combustion-turbine generators while supporting combined generator and transformer protection in a single device. The relay includes an integrated managed Ethernet switch and three independent 100Mbps Ethernet ports, and supports IEC 61850 (Ed. 1 and Ed. 2) as well as Routable GOOSE (R-GOOSE). It supports IEC 61850-9-2LE, IEC 61869 and IEC 61850-9-2 HardFiber process bus schemes, can connect to up to 8 merging units, and supports PRP, HSR, dual HSR and point-to-point process bus topology. Embedded IEEE 1588 time-synch protocol support and redundant SNTP are provided. The G30 supports a high density I/O module up to 120 inputs or up to 72 contact outputs and includes FlexLogic programmable logic. It has an integrated large, full color display (new UR front panel integrated 7" color graphical display in FW 7.6x). Oscillography supports IEEE C37.111-1999/2013 and IEC 60255-24 Ed 2.0 COMTRADE 2013, with records of up to 45s at 64 samples per cycle and a sampling rate of 64 samples/cycle. The event recorder stores 1024 time tagged events with 0.5ms scan of digital inputs and the data logger supports 16 channels with sampling rate up to 1 sample / cycle. Protection features include overall unit differential including transformer, restricted ground fault, thermal overload, directional, time, instantaneous, phase, neutral, negative sequence and ground overcurrent, split-phase protection, loss of excitation, overexcitation with dedicated harmonic/inrush detection, third harmonic neutral undervoltage, generator unbalance, reverse and low forward power, accidental energization, synchronism check and phase sequence reversal for pumped storage. CyberSentry cybersecurity features include secured firmware upgrade with FW file hash authentication (FW 7.9x), password complexity up to 20 alpha-numeric or special characters, AAA Server Support (Radius), Role Based Access Control for up to five roles and up to eight configurable users, and Syslog event recording for SEM. The G30 is intended for protection of small to medium-sized generators typically driven by steam, gas or hydraulic turbines and for pumped storage generators. It is also described for distributed generation (DG) interconnect protection. The G30 is suited to applications where the generator and transformer are in the same zone of protection and supports single and multi-pole generators with single or split-phase winding configurations.
