Makino
Model Overview & Specs
Overview
The a800Z is a five axis horizontal machining center with a factory built and fully integrated "Z-type" fifth axis that builds upon Makino's nx-series four axis HMCs. Its unique kinematic arrangement minimizes the force path lengths through the spindle and through the workpiece, transferring cutting loads and reactive forces into the machine’s three point leveled bed to maximize metal removal rates and perishable tool life due to system rigidity. It accommodates workpieces of up to Ø 39.4" x 31.5" High (Ø 1000 mm x 800 mm High) with payload weights up to 2,200 lbs (1000 kg); X- and Y- strokes are 50.4" (1,780 mm) and 47.2" (1,200 mm) respectively, and Z- stroke ranges from 44.1" - 52.2" (1,120 mm – 1,325 mm) depending on the rotary axes positioning. Both rotary tables are direct drive with unlimited 360° movement on the B-axis and 180° on the slant-style C-axis, allowing a full range of workpiece positioning from the pallet top sitting horizontal to the spindle centerline to parallel to the spindle centerline. Rapid rates for all linear axes are 2,362 inches per minute (60 meters per minute), the B-axis rotation rapid rate is 18,000 degrees per minute, and the cutting feedrate is 1,968 ipm (50,000 mm/min). Standard spindle is 10,000 RPM high power with 73.8 HP (55 kW) peak power and 532 ft-lbs (721 N-m) peak torque; an optional 8,000 RPM high torque spindle is offered. Standard ATC is a 60-tool capacity ring type magazine with tool-to-tool time of 1.8 - 1.9 sec, maximum tool diameter Ø 14.0" (Ø 356 mm) and maximum tool weight 66 lbs (30 kg). All axes have closed loop active temperature control standard and the machine includes a standard automatic pallet changer fully integrated into the core of the a800Z. The a800Z comes standard with a Fanuc-based Pro-6 CNC control featuring a touch screen interface, advanced tool data management, and Makino Super Geometric Intelligence (SGI) high speed machining control system. The a800Z provides five axis flexibility and a factory-integrated Z-type fifth axis to accommodate more complex part geometry in a minimum number of workholding setups and machining operations. The standard automatic pallet changer increases machine utilization by allowing workholding fixture tending on one pallet while the other pallet's workpiece is being machined. An optional 8,000 RPM high torque spindle is offered for customers machining tool materials and hard metals, and the standard 10,000 RPM spindle delivers 73.8 HP (55 kW) and 532 ft-lbs (721 N-m) peak torque for wide ranging material applications.
