Model Overview & Specs

Overview

The ROSS Dual Shaft Mixers are a versatile, cost-effective system for making viscous formulations and provide agitation plus high speed dispersive mixing capable of batching viscous solutions, dispersions, suspensions, and emulsions with viscosities in the hundreds of thousands of centipoise. The mixer includes an anchor agitator and a high speed disperser whose open disc blade travels at roughly 5,000 feet per minute and is designed to induce vigorous turbulent flow and create a vortex for fast wetting of dry ingredients. The anchor feeds product toward the high speed disperser and keeps the mixture constantly in motion, and Teflon scrapers can be installed on the anchor to remove materials from interior vessel walls and enhance heat transfer. Construction uses high-quality stainless steel type parts and precision bearings with large bearing spans to minimize deflection and vibration of agitator shafts. Safety limit switches prevent operation when the mix vessel and/or agitators are not in the mixing position, motors and control panels and all electrical components are customized to meet area classification requirements, and the agitation system features independently driven agitators with customizable blade combinations where no bearings or seals are submerged into the product zone. The design supports a Change Can for use with multiple interchangeable vessels, Dual-Shaft Mixers up to 1000 gallons are supplied with an air/oil lift system, and Change Can configurations allow use of a Discharge System for fast transfer, higher yield, and easier cleaning; laboratory and production size models are available with 10 - 300 Gallon and 500-1000 Gallon specification sheets referenced. The Dual Shaft Mixer is used to process viscous formulations including viscous solutions, dispersions, suspensions, and emulsions with viscosities in the hundreds of thousands of centipoise. It is applied where vigorous turbulent flow, fast wetting of dry ingredients, and high shear dispersion are required, using an anchor to maintain bulk motion and a high speed disperser to impart dispersive action. Laboratory and production size models support use across small-scale and larger-scale batching, and multi-agitator systems with independently controlled drives are employed to produce good turnover and impart shear for preparing highly filled, viscous compounds and dispersing fillers into mixtures.
