TOR-80 (TOR-80 LSL) Breakdown Voltage Tester
GlobeCore
Model Overview & Specs
Overview
The TOR-80 (TOR-80 LSL) Breakdown Voltage Tester is designed for automated, accurate measurement of the dielectric strength (breakdown voltage up to 80 kV) of transformer oil and other dielectric fluids according to IEC 60156, ASTM D877, and ASTM D1816. The unit is fully automatic, supports testing according to the procedures defined in these standards as well as user-defined procedures, and can operate autonomously or in a network while transferring results to a PC to create a local database, generate reports, plot graphs, and print results. The core of the unit is a high voltage transformer and electronic modules; a control inverter supplies sinusoidal voltage to the transformer primary while a microcontroller manages gradual voltage increase on the secondary winding until a breakthrough occurs between the cell electrodes, and AC (50-60Hz) voltage is supplied from the secondary winding terminals through the cell electrodes into the dielectric fluid during tests. Key electrical and performance specifications include sinusoidal max output voltage up to 80 kV, output voltage measurement accuracy ±1 %, voltage increase rate 0.5 to 10 kV/sec, output voltage display resolution 100 V, high voltage shutoff time after breakdown 10 (max), 4 (typical) μs, measuring cell volume 500 cm3 (30 in3), temperature measurement range 0–100 °C (32–212) with resolution 0.1 °C (32.18), integrated printer & USB, operating temperature -10–50 °C (14–122), storage temperature From -20 to +60 (from -4 to 140), relative humidity Up to 90, non-condensing, dimensions 510 х 300 х 334 (20.1 х 11.8 х 13.4) mm (in), and weight 30 kg (66) max. The instrument includes a 3.5" full-color screen, automatic stirrer for the measuring process, supports operating AC voltage (internal rechargeable battery 12V 7.2Ah) 85–264 V at 48–63 Hz with power requirement 70 VA (max), is mains powered with voltage options 110; 230 V and frequency 50; 60 Hz, has a test voltage operating range 0-80 kV, and offers control interface languages in English; French; German; Italian; Spanish; Portuguese. Available accessories and configurator items include mushroom electrodes; flat electrodes; spherical electrodes; feeler gauge (one set - four pieces); oil breakdown measuring cell with a magnetic stirrer; oil breakdown measuring cell with an impeller (mechanical) stirrer; calibration cell; magnetic stirrer; printer paper; laptop for managing operations and software updates; and spare parts kit available Standard for 1 year or Enlarged for 2 years. The TOR-80 is used to measure the dielectric strength (breakdown voltage) of transformer oil and other dielectric fluids explicitly listed as transformer oil, silicone oil, Midel 7131 dielectric fluid, and FR3 dielectric fluid. It supports testing according to IEC 60156, ASTM D877, and ASTM D1816 and can execute both standard and custom measurement procedures for research purposes while operating autonomously or networked to a PC to create local databases, generate reports, plot graphs, and print results.
