Overview

The RA802 Pharmaceutical analyser is a dedicated high-speed Raman system designed for pharmaceutical analysis and can generate comprehensive chemical images of sample surfaces in as little as 5 minutes using LiveTrack™ and StreamLine™ technologies. LiveTrack automated focus tracking maintains sample focus and acquires accurate spectra and topography from samples with extensive variations in height, enabling 3D imaging of uneven, curved or rough surfaces without the need for pre-scanning. StreamLine rapid imaging increases imaging speed to 1,500 spectra per second and is described as enabling higher laser power use without sample damage. The RA802 is designed exclusively for the pharmaceutical industry to obtain detailed information on the distribution of chemical species and to help scientists tackle formulation challenges and expedite drug development. It can be used to better understand pharmaceutical formulations to speed up drug development or perform root cause analysis. Documented applications include generating chemical images to identify counterfeit medicines, deformulating or reverse engineering drug products to characterise components, concentrations, particle sizes and distributions, quantifying content uniformity and particle size distribution of API domains, characterising API polymorphism and detecting small amounts of multiple API polymorphic forms in powder blends, and analysing powder blends and tablets to screen for the presence and form of APIs. Batch measurement automation enables programming multiple samples to run sequentially, and bespoke tablet holders can be provided to hold samples securely during analysis.
