Overview

Electronic Universal Sand Strength Machine Model 42104 is offered as AFS #0042104-ASM and Metric #42104-M-ASM. Supported sand casting processes listed are: Clay Bonded Sand; Cold Box; Core Oil; Hotbox/Warmbox; Nobake/Air-set; Shell/Croning. Calibration options include a Mechanical Load Cell and digital calibration via Touch Pad for part numbers 0042104-ASM and 42104-M-ASM. Load cell capacity for both part numbers is 500 kgs. (1,102 lbs.). Compressed air requirement is 6 bar (90 psi) and power requirements are 100-240 Volts, 50/60 Hz. External dimensions are Length: 18" / 457mm, Width: 12" / 305mm, Height: 12" / 305mm, and weight is 66lb / 30kg. The unit features a five-digit digital display, a casted housing, and single-touch operation; it continuously senses strength and automatically stops load application at the specimen's breaking point. The Electronic Universal Sand Strength Machine determines strength properties of clay and/or chemically bonded foundry sand specimens by applying pressure until specimen failure and digitally displaying the maximum force required to break the specimen. It measures force up to the point of maximum strength and automatically stops load application to avoid measuring resistance beyond that point. Supported tests explicitly listed include green and dry compression strength, green and dry shear strength, splitting strength, green deformation at maximum strength, high compression strength, hot shell tensile strength, cold shell tensile and transverse strengths, disc transverse strength, core tensile and transverse strengths, and hot box tensile strength. Accessories required to test green and dry compression strength and shear strength of clay bonded foundry molding sand are included with the machine; additional accessories for supplementary tests can be acquired separately. Green deformation data can be obtained using the Green Deformation Accessory (Model 42104E) by tracking sand specimen length prior to the compression strength test and after reaching maximum strength.
