dilatometer DIL 402 Expedis® Classic
NETZSCH Analyzing & Testing
Model Overview & Specs
Overview
The dilatometer DIL 402 Expedis® Classic offers state-of-the-art dilatometer technology and is designed for sophisticated applications. The instrument features an All-in-One design that incorporates all hardware components for precise dilatometry and is available as a single or dual system; no inconvenient cable tangle nor an external chiller are needed. Sample handling includes method-based test routines predefined by the operator and a MultiTouch function that positions the sample using a unique tail-like motion; exchanging the furnace is described as simple and measurements can be started with only a few clicks. The system is stated to provide maintenance-free operation, low work load, simplified and safe operation, and effortless exchanging of the sample holder system. Furnaces: Fused silica: RT to 1150°C; SiC: RT to 1600°C (optional furnace for fast cooling). Sample dimensions: Sample length max.: 52 mm; Ø 12 mm standard (optional Ø 19 mm max.); Ø 8 mm in dual sample holder system. Temperature accuracy / precision / resolution: 1 K / 0.1 K / 0.001 K. Force range (load at the sample): 0.01 N … 3 N (valid for compressive and tensile force depending on the sample holder). The system is supplied with the Proteus® 7 dilatometer software. Dilatometry on this instrument is used to quantitatively determine the thermal change in length or volume of a material as a function of temperature and to determine the linear or volumetric coefficient of thermal expansion. The Proteus® software options extend use cases to density determination of solids, viscous materials such as pastes, liquids or melts and to assess volumetric expansion of isotropic materials; the c-DTA® signal enables simultaneous analysis of length changes and endothermal/exothermal effects and can be used for temperature calibration. Identify supports identification of unknown samples from absolute values, slope or shape and comparison against libraries for material identification and quality comparison. The method text explicitly cites materials science, metallurgy, ceramics and polymer research as application areas.
