Octet® R Series

Overview

The Octet® R Series is a field-upgradeable, label-free biomolecule analysis platform that leverages Octet® BLI technology. The series consists of three configurations: Octet® R2 (2-Channel), Octet® R4 (4-Channel), and Octet® R8 (8-Channel). All models have comparable sensitivity and enable direct detection of specific proteins or drug molecules even in complex mixtures and unpurified samples like cell culture supernatants and lysates. The platform is fluidic-free and low-maintenance and supports a broad range of ligand-binding assays, including protein quantitation, impurity testing, and kinetics characterization. Octet® R2 and Octet® R4 are field-upgradeable within a single service visit, and the series offers throughput, crude sample compatibility, and GxP-compliance packages; it is described as ideal for academic start-up and low volume labs. The Octet® R Series is presented to accelerate research and tackle analytical complexity with label-free biomolecule analysis while allowing users to balance throughput needs and budget. Supported assay and analysis use cases include protein quantitation, impurity testing, kinetics characterization, protein–protein and protein–small molecule analysis, and screening and characterizing small drug molecules. The systems are also described for concentration determination and characterization of therapeutic proteins such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), bispecific antibodies (bsAbs), and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), including detection of impurities such as host cell protein (HCP), and to support transitions from basic research to lead optimization to GMP manufacturing.
