AWG5200 Arbitrary Waveform Generator
Tektronix
Model Overview & Specs
Overview
The AWG5200 Arbitrary Waveform Generator delivers 16 bits of DAC resolution and a sample rate range of 298 S/s - 5 GS/s. Memory is 2 GS/channel. Analog bandwidth is 2 GHz (at -3 dB x) and, at 5 GS/s performance, the instrument allows direct generation of signals up to 4 GHz. A single unit supports up to 8 analog channels and the platform can scale to 32 or more channels with multi-unit synchronization. The instrument can simultaneously use up to 8 analog channels, 32 digital and 4 flags. The product documentation highlights an extremely low noise floor, excellent spurious performance and low SFDR, along with faster waveform loading and low trigger-to-output latency. Documented applications include advanced research, electronic test and radar, and electronic warfare system design and test. The AWG5200 supports simulating and emulating real-world wireless scenarios for EW monitoring, radar receivers with interference signals, Phased Array Antennae and MIMO. An environment plugin lets users create up to 50 Scenarios composed of as many as 100 Emitters per Scenario. Plugin-based use cases listed include OFDM, RF and RADAR waveform generation, Pattern Generator use for LVDS and other differential or single-ended digital pattern generation (for up to 8 analog channels and 32 digital marker channels per instrument at 5GS/s), a Pulse Generator for LVDS, Timing-to-digital converters and LiDAR, and an LVDS Video plugin for FPD-Link designs with JEIDA/VESA encoding configuration. The product text also cites use for quantum research with 8 independent, tightly synchronized channels, a built-in sequencer, and minimal time between trigger and waveform playout, and for LVDS testing across R&D to production when used with Pattern Generator and Pulse plugins.
