Overview

Edgefinishing is Koops’ custom edgewrap and edgefold machine suite for producing clean, crisp edge finishes tailored to client specifications. Over the past 20 years, Koops has completed hundreds of edgefinishing projects around the globe and has partnerships with automotive OEMs and their suppliers. The equipment supports localized re-thermoforming and fabric wrapping over complex geometries, and can incorporate lamination processes. The tool-pack design allows multiple product versions to be run on the same machine with minimal downtime for changeovers while keeping the base design consistent. Other documented capabilities include tight control over process parameters, options to integrate component assembly, and finishing techniques such as thermoforming, welding, gluing, and staking. The machines accommodate multiple cover-stock options in one tool, including knit, suede, and vinyl (restrictions may apply), and use an optimized frame designed for easy maintenance and to decrease total-machine footprint. Used to create visually appealing, durable edge wraps and edge folds for products in the automotive and transportation sector and for applications beyond automotive. Supported processes include localized re-thermoforming, fabric wrapping over complex geometries, lamination, and component assembly integration. The tool-pack approach enables running multiple product versions and multiple cover-stock options (including knit, suede, and vinyl) on the same machine with minimal changeover downtime.
