Overview

VM9-BA is an amplifier for the automatic balancing of the spindles in grinding machines. It is designed for simple and cost-effective applications and is suitable for both new machines and retrofitting. Features include a compact and ergonomic design; automatic balancing of the grinding spindle; an automatic neutral cycle (compensation weights at 180°); programmable limits for balancing target and vibration alarm; and a vibration level display with LED bar graph. Stated benefits are optimization of surface finishing quality, constant control of spindle vibrations, extended lifetime of the spindle and grinding wheel, and operation that does not require surveillance. Balance Systems’ SD balancing heads are described as moment-free architecture to avoid dynamic influence on the grinding spindle and to improve surface finishing. The SDE model is mounted externally by a flange and is controlled via cable; the SDE is noted as suitable for retrofitting. The SDI model is mounted inside the spindle shaft through a flange or a self-lock system and is controlled via cable. The SDE balancing head is intended for external flange mounting and cable control for retrofit applications, while the SDI balancing head is intended to be mounted inside the spindle shaft through a flange or self-lock system and controlled via cable, providing internal balancing options matched to spindle bore diameters and specified compensation capacities.
