Voortman VB Range

Overview

The Voortman VB Range is a CNC bandsaw machine for beam sawing that provides automated straight and miter cutting for structural steel. Each machine is mounted to a heavy-duty welded base frame and is equipped with servo motors and ball screw spindles. A moveable sawing table keeps the bandsaw blade and cutting area aligned so the saw never cuts the table, and the table rotates steplessly and lowers for contact-free rotation. Programmable rotation enables miter cuts from 45°/ 60° or -60° to 45° with the table fixed prior to cutting by a disc brake. Sawing support features include a swarf brush for chip removal, a maximum force limit for consistent cutting force, a height detection laser that switches to sawing speed when it reaches the top of the material, and an LED saw band projection light for accurate positioning. Blade cooling sprays a mixture of air and oil directly onto the blade and a special mode is provided to saw through thick profiles; changing saw blades takes less than 15 minutes. Voortman offers 4 different measurement systems with the VB Range (gripper truck, full-stop, measurement rollers) and the machine can be equipped with the Short Piece Removal System (SPRS) which clamps products up to 1.400 mm (55") during cutting and pushes them out sideways while dropping products shorter than 250 mm (10") into a separate bin. The servo-driven gripper truck adapts its velocity to the profile's total weight, can rotate its clamp automatically, and can be combined with the SPRS for autonomous operation. Every machine is controlled by VACAM CNC software, supports automatic in- and outfeed using DSTV or DSTV+ files, and can be integrated into an MSI line with cross-transports, roller conveyors and automatic profile transportation. The VB Range is designed for automated production of structural steel profiles, providing one-button start operation after loading DSTV or DSTV+ files into VACAM so the operator only needs to load raw material and unload finished products. Short products and off-cuts can be automatically removed with the SPRS, while long or heavy profiles are sorted onto roller conveyors and outfeed cross transports. The machine supports combined sawing and drilling configurations using measuring rolls, gripper truck, or full-stop measuring systems and enables high-output bundle sawing with the full stop measuring system and bundle clamp. MSI (Multi System Integration) connects machines with cross-transports, roller conveyors, product buffers and material sensors, with VACAM distributing production data and deciding the optimal material route for fully automated integrated production.
