Overview

8000GT Series Gas Tight Dual Chamber Furnace is a dual chamber furnace that operates in an atmosphere and is presented as a cost-effective alternative to AM models with a "Space Saver" design providing two independently controlled chambers in one packaged assembly. The upper chamber (Hardening) is designed for operation with inert protective atmosphere to 2100°F and is constructed with a continuously welded shell, gasketed door assembly, and inlet and outlet ports for operation with a positive flow of atmosphere. The lower chamber (Tempering) includes a stainless steel liner and a fan to recirculate heat for uniform temperature and is available in operating temperatures of 800°F (88), 1200°F (82), 1400°F (84), and 1600°F (86). Standard features include multi-layered energy efficient lightweight firebrick and mineral block insulation, heavy gauge coil wound low watt density heating elements suitable for atmosphere, elements mounted in easy-to-replace holders on side walls, a hearth plate in the upper chamber, and a manual vertical lift upper chamber door with high-temperature ceramic fiber gasket secured by swing bolts and handles; a safety micro-switch shuts off power to elements when the door opens. Controls consist of a Eurotherm digital temperature controller with type K thermocouple and magnetic contactor on each chamber, mounted in a side-mounted NEMA 1 panel that operates on 115 volts. Units are ruggedly constructed, rated for work loads up to 50 lbs. per square foot of hearth area, and are completely wired, assembled, test fired and shipped ready for connection to main power supply. Two example model specifications are: 82GT-O24 — Chamber Dimensions: 18"H X 18"W X 24"D; Overall Dimensions: 96"H X 39"W X 50"D; KW: 33; Voltage: 230/460. 82GT-R36 — Chamber Dimensions: 24"H X 24"W X 36"D; Overall Dimensions: 114"H X 48"W X 65"D; KW: 65; Voltage: 230/460. The 8000 GT Series is suited for constant operation to maintain a dry refractory environment in the work area and to minimize oxidation on workloads by operating the upper chamber with an inert protective atmosphere. The upper chamber is intended for hardening operations up to 2100°F using a positive flow of atmosphere through inlet and outlet ports. The lower chamber provides tempering and uniform temperature control via a recirculating fan and is available at operating temperatures of 800°F (88), 1200°F (82), 1400°F (84), and 1600°F (86), allowing the furnace to serve as a combined hardening and tempering station in one packaged assembly.
