Overview

Handheld copper qualification tester in a compact 7in x 3.5in x 1.75in (17.8cm x 8.9cm x 4.5cm) enclosure weighing 1.2 lb (0.55 kg). Powered by 4 AA (NEDA 15A, IEC LR6) alkaline batteries with approximately 20 hours of typical use, without backlight; also accepts 4AA photo lithium, NIHM, and NICAD battery types. Stores up to 250 qualification test results on-board. Supports a broad set of wiring and signal tests relevant to structured-cabling and coax systems: Wiremap, length, cable signal performance, continuity, cable fault finding, digital toner, analog toner, Ethernet port detection and identification, blink port light, analog telephone detection, speaker test, and video signal detection. Qualification autotests include 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 10BASE-T, VoIP, 1394b S100, TELCO, Wiremap only, and Coax. Wiremap and fault-finding features detect single-wire faults, split pairs, and draw proportional wire length to breaks. MultiMap mode can identify up to seven remote office identifiers. The unit measures crosstalk and impedance and compares measured values against the limits appropriate to the selected qualification test; it can identify the location of large point-source faults and distributed sources when those impairments are sufficient to disqualify the link. Designed to test common cable constructions: UTP, STP, FTP, SSTP, RG6, RG59, and audio/security cabling. Intended for field qualification, acceptance testing and troubleshooting of data, voice, coax, audio and security cabling in industrial and commercial network installations. Typical users include structured-cabling contractors, data center technicians, network maintenance teams and manufacturing facility IT staff who need handheld, battery-powered diagnostics for on-site verification and repair.
