FFThemtec 180°

Overview

FFThemtec 180° is a counter roller folding system for producing a 180° fold. It is specified for flat seam geometries and is suitable for steel components and aluminum components. The design is modular and available as a V-version or two-part tool, with pneumatic infeed of the counter rollers and a pneumatically adjustable folding force; tolerances and component quality can be influenced via the folding tool. A 5R variant is available where the base body can be equipped with one up to five pairs of hemming rollers. The ambient temperature should be between 10 - 40°C, the weight is 49 kg, dimensions are 690 mm x 425 mm x 400 mm, air humidity range is 5-95%, and applicable standards listed are DIN EN 4414:2010 and EN ISO 12100-2:2010. Application areas explicitly cited are sunroof cut-outs, side panels and special seaming tasks, including automated hemming of sliding and panoramic roofs. In reverse roller hemming the hemming heads are guided by robots that move along metal sheets or panels to bend and hem the material, and component quality and tolerances can be influenced via the robot program or folding tool. The hemming process for steel components is carried out in four steps with angles 35°, 80° (first bending angle), 135° (second bending angle) and 180° (fine adjustment angle); for aluminum components the process uses five steps with angles 30°, 60° (first bending angle), 90° (additional hemming step to prevent possible cracking), 135° (third bending angle) and 180° (fine adjustment angle). The counter roller hemming head is described as being used to create joints or reinforcements in the production of complex steel structures.
