Overview

Croma continuous coater (CROMACoating) by IMA Active is designed for truly continuous operation, with the product flowing continuously throughout the modules with no steps. A single CROMA module works in ranges of 20-100 kg/h and average 2-4% weight gain, depending on tablets and film types. Modularity allows connection either in series for higher weight gain or in parallel for higher throughput. Technical data for the available layouts: - SINGLE MODULE: Throughput (kg/h) 20  100 (depending on weight gain); Spray guns 10; Air flow ranges (m3/h) 1,500; Pan dimension (mm) 315 (diameter) x 1050 (lenght). - TWO MODULES IN SERIES: Throughput (kg/h) 20  100 (depending on weight gain); Spray guns 10 + 10; Air flow ranges (m3/h) 1,500 + 1,500; Pan dimension (mm) 315 (diameter) x 1050 (lenght). The perforated drum of each module is fully accessible once the side panels are removed to allow inspection and cleaning. Croma is fitted with process monitoring and control technologies and supports Advanced Process Control with full integration of PAT tools and use of mathematical models for measurement or prediction of Critical Process Parameters (CPP) that determine Critical Quality Attributes (CQA). Croma is intended for continuous coating of tablets across product development, clinical trials and manufacturing, with no need for scale-up between these stages. It is designed to manage a range of tablets throughput and a range of coating weight gain and to deliver coated tablets with specific consistent properties. The system can be configured in series to achieve higher weight gain or in parallel to increase throughput, supporting module-level throughput ranges of 20-100 kg/h and average 2-4% weight gain depending on tablets and film types, and aiming to improve process efficiency and minimize energy consumption.
