TDS NT

Overview

TDS NT is a combination system for cable testing and cable diagnosis. The system consists of a multifunctional, compact voltage source and a modern partial discharge (PD) detector. The device provides two proven voltage wave shapes in one unit and supports standard compliant VLF cable testing with accompanying PD diagnosis. It performs non-destructive PD diagnosis using a damped alternating current (DAC) voltage and features 50 Hz Slope Technology for direct comparison with the power frequency. With 50 Hz Slope Technology the unit combines a withstand test with VLF cosine-rectangular voltage (VLF CR) and PD diagnosis with DAC in a single device. Test type: PD; Test type: VLF; Mobility: Portable. The TDS NT is used for simple VLF tests and for commissioning tests with accompanying PD diagnosis when used in connection with the PD detector. Its 50 Hz Slope Technology enables immediate location of faults in underground cables during actual PD measurement. The system provides an integrated solution for a precise inventory of the network infrastructure by allowing PD measurement data gained with VLF CR or DAC to be compared directly with the 50/60 Hz network voltage to facilitate decision making.
