CLX 350

Overview

The CLX 350 is presented as a universal turning machine supplied with a direct measuring system in standard (X- or X-/Y-axis). Workpiece and travel capacities are: Max. workpiece diameter 320 mm 12.6 in., Max. workpiece length 530 mm 20.9 in., Max. bar diameter 65 mm 2.6 in., Max. X-axis travel 242.5 mm 9.5 in., Max. Y-axis travel 80 mm 3.1 in., and Max. Z-axis travel 540 mm 21.3 in. The main spindle is described as a highly dynamic spindle drive 22.1 hp kW (40% DC) and 123.9 ft lb (40% DC) with max. speed up to 5,000 rpm, and the sub spindle is an integrated motor spindle ISM 36 with power 16.9 hp (40% DC), 45.7 ft lb (40% DC) and max. speed up to 5,000 rpm with the possibility for rear-face machining. The machine includes a Y-axis with travel range ± 1.6 in to support superior milling operations such as complete lateral surface machining. Bar and automation features include ø2.56” bar capacity in standard, an optional part catcher for parts up to ø2.6 x 7.9 in and weight of 6.6 lb, and an automation interface according to DMG MORI standard compatible with most bar feeders (option). Control and software alternatives include SIEMENS and Fanuc, with a 19" multi-touch control panel and 19" DMG MORI SLIM_line control panel and a DMG MORI SMART_key personalized with 8 GB additional storage, and the machine has a small foot print of 53.8 ft2. Complete machining of complex parts is explicitly supported by the combination of a sub spindle and a Y-axis, enabling rear-face machining and complete lateral surface machining. The Y-axis travel range ± 1.6 in is cited specifically for superior milling operations. Sample applications listed for the machine include spark plug housing made of zinc-chromate coated steel, bevel gear made of stainless steel, connector made of carbon steel, machine shaft made of stainless steel, shaft made of carbon steel, and connecting plate made of carbon steel.
