Overview

smartDOSING is a NIMAK system for 1-component adhesives that does not require a metering unit; the core concept is a completely motorized drum pump. The system essentially consists of two main components: an application head and a pump stand. In the Plus version the opening angle of the application nozzle on the application head can be adjusted to apply different seam widths, including curved seams. The application head is one size fits all, Max. weight: 5 kg, fully electric, includes an integrated pressure sensor to control material pressure, and has a reduced number of parts. The electric pump stand features simple technology with robust construction, a guided stroke on the rear side that moves the follower piston plate, one electrically driven pump (heated / unheated), an integrated pressure sensor, an innovative follower plate design to reduce waste, and one frame design for 20l, 50l and 200l drums (600mm wide). Optional equipment listed includes laser seam monitoring, online seam monitoring and downstream camera monitoring. The system uses electrical energy instead of compressed air and states a 30 % investment savings potential compared to classic dosing. The product is for adhesive application of 1-component adhesives and is described as ideal for most applications. The Plus version explicitly supports applying different seam widths and handling seams that are not only straight but also curved. NIMAK offers an inspection and test system for dosing/gluing equipment with optional fully automatic test sequences or individual tests of valves and dosing chambers, the drive, the heating board, heaters and the pressure sensor, and provides complete documentation of the maintenance history; this inspection/test capability is stated as valid for common SIEMENS and BECKHOFF based systems. The system is reported as already successfully in use at BMW in Munich and the listed advantages include savings on investments in new plant technology, savings in spare parts stocking, savings in the operation of running plants, constant application quality, a constant and stable process over the life of the plant, less weight, less maintenance and fewer failures due to fixtures.
