XtaLAB SynergyCustom

Overview

The XtaLAB SynergyCustom is an X-ray diffractometer with a dual port rotating anode X-ray source and a Hybrid Photon Counting (HPC) detector. Units can be configured with either a MicroMax-007 HF microfocus rotating anode source or the FR-X (Mo, Cu, or Cr). Detector options include HyPix-6000HE, HyPix-Arc 100° or HyPix-Arc 150°, and the DECTRIS EIGER 4M. Rigaku's rotating anode generators on this system can utilize both ports simultaneously, enabling configurations such as two single crystal goniometers or one goniometer with a sample-changing robot on one port and a second goniometer dedicated to chemical crystallography. The system is supplied in a specially designed enclosure with a choice of table size to accommodate accessory equipment such as a microscope close to the goniometer. HPC detectors on the system directly detect X-ray photons without the need for a phosphor or scintillator, providing high dynamic range, fast readout speed, extremely low noise, and a top-hat point spread function of a single pixel for shutterless data collection. The instrument uses a fast kappa geometry goniometer that allows data collection scan speeds of up to 10°/sec. Standard accessories and options listed for the XtaLAB SynergyCustom include Oxford Cryostream 1000, Oxford Cobra, XtalCheck-S, High Pressure Kit, Intelligent Goniometer Head v3, Intelligent Goniometer Head 2 (IGH2), Intelligent Optics Module (iOM), and the ACTOR 2 robotic sample changer, and the system computer is an external PC running MS Windows OS. The XtaLAB SynergyCustom is intended for X-ray crystal structure determination and SAXS for macromolecules. The dual-port rotating anode configuration supports protein crystallography and chemical crystallography setups, including configurations with two goniometers or a goniometer plus a sample-changing robot. CrysAlisPro is supplied for automated crystal screening, strategy calculation, concurrent data reduction, and operation in protein or small molecule workflows, and AutoChem provides fast, fully automatic small molecule structure solution and refinement during data collection. Optional XtalCheck-S enables in situ screening of crystallization plates without harvesting and cryo-cooling samples, and the High Pressure Kit accommodates high pressure cells with a sample space of 8 cm diameter.
