RPV Volumetric Resin Delivery System

Overview

The RPV Volumetric Resin Delivery System is a completely self contained unit designed to eliminate problems such as inaccurate delivery, inconsistent delivery, resin bleed back, the need for constant re-calibration, and high replacement parts cost. The unit is shipped 100% Tested, Assembled, and Ready to Install. The entire RPV System is housed in a NEMA enclosure which can be mounted on or near the existing mixer, and all electrical controls are housed in a smaller NEMA 12 enclosure located within the larger enclosure with all necessary controls accessible through a window on the door. The electrical control system features two modes of operation: HAND (manual control of filling and discharge of each resin reservoir) and AUTOMATIC (all aspects operate based on a trigger signal from the existing batch mixer's electrical control system); the trigger signal is the only electrical connection required between the existing mixer and the RPV. High tolerance liquid level detection proximity switches provide for an adjustable resin amount within the resin reservoir and system controls are managed by a smart relay system that offers the flexibility and power of a PLC. The RPV includes two appropriately sized resin reservoirs as standard, each with an inlet and discharge air actuated stainless steel ball valve where the inlet valve prevents resin bleed back once the reservoir is filled and the discharge valve prevents seepage while filling; the pneumatic system is separated into two manifolds—one controls the air actuated ball valves and operates off plant compressed air, the second is used for injection of resin into the mixer and allows the user to utilize either plant compressed air or inert gas for transfer—and the discharge pressure of each reservoir is adjustable. All units are sized based on batch mixer resin requirements and available options include an acid system upgrade, multiple resin levels, and batch mixer controls integration. The RPV is intended as a retrofit replacement for old, worn, or poorly designed resin delivery systems and is noted as particularly helpful when replacing systems designed around high RPM, low displacement pumps or complicated calibration control systems. It can operate in HAND mode for manual filling and discharge or in AUTOMATIC mode where it responds to a trigger signal from an existing batch mixer, with that trigger signal serving as the only required electrical connection. The separated pneumatic manifolds allow the user to select the transfer gas (plant compressed air or inert gas) for injection into the mixer, and adjustable liquid level detection and reservoir discharge pressure enable controlled volumetric resin delivery.
