Model Overview & Specs

Overview

ethos is a high speed 5-axis CNC machining center, numerically controlled and designed according to CMS philosophy as the result and culmination of experiences developed in the aerospace and automotive sectors. The machine's structure and the selected components ensure the highest level of component finish, high machining speeds, reliability, structural rigidity, operating flexibility and outstanding productivity. Aero-Design technology provides frames with structural rigidity up to 23% higher than the average in its category and a high capacity of vibration absorption. Recirculating roller guides and zero backlash kinematics allow the achievement of unprecedented accuracies, and the combination with state-of-the-art acceleration and speed delivers a balance between precision and speed for demanding productions. ethos can be fitted with a 5-axis operating unit equipped with torque motors on the rotating axes; the direct coupling between motors and axes eliminates transmission components and mechanical wear. The torque motors can reach accelerations and speeds up to 5 times higher than traditional solutions while ensuring 41% higher precision. Axes strokes and rotary ranges are specified as follows: X [mm]: 2500 - 4000 - 5000 - 6000 - 7500 - 8000 - 10000 - 13000 - 15500 - 18000 - 20500; Y/Z [mm]: 2600/1300 - 2600/2000 - 4000/1300 - 4000/2000; Z [mm]: 1300 - 2000; A [ ° ]: ±110°; C [ ° ]: ±300° / ±361°. The product text explicitly cites use in the most demanding productions such as automotive and aerospace. A CMS universal automatic clamping system (UHF) is provided to reconfigure in a few seconds for complex-shaped parts, enabling zero downtime and improving efficiency for productions with single lots or very small batches as noted in the description. Available machine options that describe specific application workflows include APC extractable tables to allow loading and unloading outside the working area, a rotary table (TR) that simplifies loading/unloading outside the machine and allows pendulum cycle using the complete working area, a double bridge with twin operating units, and a 5-axis hybrid solution combining milling and a waterjet cutting system with catcher.
