VM15

Overview

The VM15 is a programmable modular single- and dual-function system for grinding machine processes, designed for medium complexity applications with high performances and cost effective. It provides one-plane balancing of the grinding spindle; touch detection to control the grinding wheel-workpiece and grinding wheel-dresser contact moment using acoustic emission and/or power sensors; and comparative in-process gauging. Available single-function variants are VM15-B (1 plane balancing), VM15-T (Touch detection) and VM15-G (In-process gauging), and dual-function variants are VM15-BT, VM15-BG and VM15-TG. The system is configured with a control unit installed inside the machine electrical cabinet and a remote graphic control panel with a user graphic interface based on ISO symbols. Each installed function is fully independent and can be disabled without preventing the remaining functions from operating. The VM15 includes TCP/IP connectivity for service operations and remote diagnostics and is supplied with the software application "VM15 Service" for backup, restore and software upgrade operations; functional upgrades can be made at any time. A typical installation includes the control unit directly connected to the PLC/NCU for real-time control, a remote user interface with graphic display and multi-function keyboard with softkey, and sensors and actuators fitted on the machine in the working area. VM15 is used for one-plane balancing of grinding spindles, touch detection to control grinding wheel-workpiece and grinding wheel-dresser contact moments, and comparative in-process gauging. It can be installed on any type of grinding machine, both new and as a retrofit, with the control unit interfacing directly to the machine PLC/NCU and offering TCP/IP remote diagnostics and service.
