Overview

The SWG 500 is a surge wave generator rated for 16 kV and 500 J. It can switch between three voltage ranges: 4 kV, 8 kV, and 16 kV, allowing each voltage stage to use the full surge energy of 500 Joules. Surge energy is optimized for switchable capacitors and the unit operates in the middle voltage range of the usual SWGs with its surge energy in the lower range. Power source: Mains. Product documents include a data sheet (SWG_DS_EN.pdf, 304.12 KB) and a user guide (SWG500_UG_EN.pdf, 496.25 KB). Together with reflectometers, surge wave generators are a central component of cable fault location. They are used for both pre-locating and pinpointing faults.
