Overview

HiLINE IFB is a roller guide calibration and alignment system: 101/118, designed to aid the operator during set-up of the roller guide in a workshop and to align roller guide mounting bases in fast finishing blocks. The system acquires the shadow produced by pass rings and guide rollers when these intercept the band of light diffused by the light source; a processing system (Tablet PC) reconstructs the pass shape and compares it with the design drawing retrieved from the device database. A solid portable camera and tablet terminal permit operation in difficult or hostile environments, and wireless modules aid the operator during set-up of the fast finishing block. The embedded database is modifiable to keep the system updated with changes performed in mill production such as roller guides, ring profiles and gap changes, and fully computer-assisted step-by-step procedures guide the user to align and set the correct roller guide positions while the user-friendly interface provides clear graphical and visual indication of actual and target roll-groove shape and dimensions. The system delivers numerical indication of the main dimensions of the roll-groove for 2 or 4 rolls roller-guide, numerical indication of entry guide mounting base and roll-groove misalignment, numerical indication of the main dimensions of the roll-groove on the fast finishing block, high measurement accuracy, quality control reporting capabilities and low operating and maintenance costs, and it claims reduced wear in rolls and bearings, faster rolling mill adjustment, accurate operator-independent alignment, less skilled personnel requirements, improved control over product, improved quality and significant reduction of production downtime. HiLINE IFB is used to aid operators during set-up of roller guides in a workshop and to align roller guide mounting bases in fast finishing blocks. The system also supports calibration and alignment activities in difficult or hostile environments via a solid portable camera and tablet terminal, and provides quality control reporting capabilities during these operations.
