MAGNUS Step-up transformer

Overview

The MAGNUS Step-up transformer enables checking instrument transformers to ensure they provide test instruments and protective relay equipment with the correct outputs in the event of a fault. It provides quick and easy preparation of excitation curves for instrument transformers, demagnetizes current transformer cores, and conducts turn ratio tests on voltage transformers. Weighing 16 kg (35 lbs), the instrument provides 1 A at 2.2 kV and is operated with both hands to enhance personal safety. As standard, the MAGNUS comes with a special high voltage cable and a robust transport case; the asset under test is Current transformer. Supported use cases include preparation of excitation curves for instrument transformers, demagnetizing current transformer cores, conducting turn ratio tests on voltage transformers, and checking instrument transformers to verify outputs to test instruments and protective relay equipment during faults.
