Centrifugal High Energy Finishing Machine

Overview

ActOn’s Centrifugal High Energy Finishing machines generate a very high gravitational force and are designed to maximise the output. Key mechanical features include removable barrels with easy and quick barrel changeover, removable liners, pressure release valves on barrels, a door interlocking safety switch, manual load and unload, and very quiet operation. The machines are PLC controlled, British built, and use a Unique Drive Mechanism to provide high polishing efficiency and gentle action on parts. Additional product characteristics include greater control of the process, no need for fixturing or tooling, no part impingement, the option to carry out different processes in each barrel, easy maintenance, operator-friendly design, and the ability to be easily customised. Explicitly stated applications include deburring; removal of machining lines; removal of surface defects; stock removal; surface finish; descaling; degreasing & oil removal; cleaning; smoothing; radiusing; brightening; polishing & burnishing; and super-finishing. The machines are described as able to achieve high surface finish requirements and mirror finishes and to remove heavy manufacturing defects, and parts that require hand finishing are identified as excellent candidates for High Energy Finishing. The product is claimed to be up to 10 times faster than vibratory finishing in some cases; a cited customer reported that a CHE50 increased capacity by 200% while maintaining product quality, and the CPM-10 has been used to support R&D into finishing both EBM and SLM additive manufacturing parts.
