Overview

Banyard Step Feed Billet Heaters provide high productivity and heating efficiency. The Step Feed method introduces one billet into the coil while exiting one billet from the opposing end, and each billet moves through the coil as part of a stack, allowing excellent end temperature uniformity while maintaining a comparably high overall throughput rate. Each billet spends a comparatively large amount of time within the heating coil compared to Single-Shot systems, which allows exceptional cross-sectional uniformity even on low thermally conductive alloys and large diameter billets. Long induction coils heat multiple billets simultaneously to provide uniform heating of low thermal conductivity alloys while maintaining high productivity; multi layered induction coils are optimised for high efficiency and the heaters offer high productivity for short length billets. Available for a billet diameter range 100mm (4\u0002) to 305mm (12\u0002). The required LFi Frequency Power Convertor (frequency range 20 \t6 200 Hz) can be located adjacent to the induction coil or mounted on a deck above the induction coil to reduce floor footprint. An optional patented flux extender \u000098mole\u000099 device is used to keep billet end heating uniform and prevent potential overheating of billet ends for a wide range of billet lengths; United States Patent No. US10 034 331 B2 for method and apparatus. The heaters operate by introducing and removing billets in a step-feed stack to heat billets while delivering excellent end temperature uniformity and a comparably high overall throughput rate. They are used where exceptional cross-sectional uniformity is required, including on low thermally conductive alloys and large diameter billets, and where high productivity for short length billets and simultaneous heating of multiple billets is needed; the optional flux extender supports uniform billet end heating across a range of billet lengths.
