Overview

The ALN800GH is a rigid linear motor driven high-performance Wire EDM machine that incorporates Sodick’s SPW (Smart Pulse Wire) control and Smart Pulse Generator, with Z travels of 28.74" (730 mm) and a maximum work height of 800 mm. X-Travel is 31.50" (800 mm) and Y-Travel is 23.62" (600 mm). U and V axis travel are 7.87" x 7.87" (200 x 200 mm). The machine uses flat rigid linear motor drives on the X, Y, U, and V axes with Absolute Linear Scales and is covered by Sodick’s 10-Year Positioning Guarantee. Motion control is provided by the K-SMC Sodick Motion Controller and the Thermal Commit (TH COM) function provides temperature-based correction and diagnostic functions. Standard control and auxiliary features include a 19" LCD multi-touch panel, Windows operating system, Intelligent Q³vic automatic programming, Digital Pika-W Plus super finishing circuit, TMP II surface finishing circuit, FJ (Fixed Jet) High Speed AWT for submerged and non-submerged threading, Automatic Wire Tension Servo Control, three-part filtration, dielectric cooling unit, and an on-board Heart NC CAD-CAM system. Wire diameter range is 0.004" ~ 0.012" (0.05 ~ 0.30 mm). Work tank dimensions are 59.05" x 40.94" (1,500 x 1,040 mm), distance from floor to table is 39.17" (995 mm), machine tool dimensions are 130.31" x 132.28" x 106.10" (3,310 x 3,360 x 2,695 mm), and machine weight is 14,550 lbs (6,600 kg). The ALN800GH is configured for high-precision Wire EDM cutting and finishing, with a demonstrated cutting accuracy of +/- .00012" (3 µm). A provided sample machining of SKD11 Steel (D2), thickness 1.57" (40 mm), achieved surface roughness 55 RMS (1.37 µmRa), used a .008" (.2 mm) wire diameter, and recorded a cutting time of 2 hours 57 minutes with a 41% cutting time reduction on that sample. The machine supports multi-axis simultaneous "Turn and Burn" capability when equipped with the SPW-E control option, offers submerged and non-submerged automatic wire threading via the Fixed Jet High Speed AWT, and can apply the HTP Circuit option to improve machining efficiency when cutting PCD and similar materials. Intelligent Q³vic enables importation of 3D CAD files for automatic program generation.
