Media Return System

Overview

The Media Return System is equipment for media-separating and wastewater-handling lines that recovers particulate process media from effluent and returns the usable fraction to the production process. It is intended for industrial-scale operations where process media and wastewater streams are combined and require separation and reclamation. The unit is designed to be integrated as part of a reclaim circuit downstream of separators/classifiers and upstream of returning conveyors or feed systems. Decision-relevant characteristics include its role in reducing make-up media consumption and lowering the solids load sent for disposal, and that its configuration is selected to match the plant’s media type, solids concentration and process flow regime. Typical use scenarios include integration into reclaim circuits for blast cabinets/rooms, parts-washing lines and other finishing or cleaning operations that generate mixed media-and-wastewater effluent and require recovery of reusable particulate media. The system is used where continuous or batch return of media to the process is needed to cut operating costs and reduce waste handling. Selection and installation are driven by media size and hardness, effluent flowrate and solids loading, and by required integration with upstream separators, downstream conveyors or pumps and plant control systems.
