Ashing Furnace GSM 11/8

Overview

The Ashing Furnace GSM 11/8 has a maximum operating temperature of 1100°C and a maximum continuous operating temperature of 1000°C. Typical heat-up time is 70 mins (measured to 100°C below max using an empty chamber). The furnace chamber is constructed from fused quartz to avoid contamination from alumina or silica and to keep corrosive vapours such as H2SO4, HNO3 and HCl away from the heating elements. The design includes a moulded ceramic fibre door plug and 4 sided heating (2 sides, roof, hearth). Standard control is provided by a Carbolite 301 controller with single ramp to set-point and a process timer. Optional items include digital controllers, multisegment programmers and data loggers with digital communication options, a gas inlet for modified atmospheres, and sample trays & racks. Internal H x W x D are 120 x 175 x 345 mm, external H x W x D are 670 x 435 x 750 mm, external with door open H x W x D are 915 x 435 x 805 mm, height to top chimney is 1070 mm and chamber volume is 8 litres. Max power is 3050 W, holding power 1700 W, thermocouple type K and weight 57 kg; the maximum depth to accommodate the door opening arc is 810mm and maximum power and heat up times are based on a 240V supply. The fused quartz furnace chamber is described as ideal for analyses where alumina or silica dust (Al2O3 at SiO2) could contaminate test results. The chamber lining is stated to offer superior containment of corrosive and aggressive vapours such as H2SO4, HNO3 and HCl, and the enclosed design minimises gas leakages when an optional gas inlet is specified for modified atmospheres.
