Model Overview & Specs

Overview

VIKING™ 1840 Series Black Welding Helmet (K3023-5) is an auto‑darkening welding helmet with a nylon shell finished in Glossy Black and a product weight of 19.5 oz. (553 g). The replaceable cartridge measures 5.25 x 4.50 in (133 x 114 mm) and the active ADF viewing area is 3.78 x 1.85 in (96 x 47 mm). The ADF provides continuous lens shade control from 7 - 13 with a light state/grind mode shade of 2.5 and a light-to-dark switch time of 1/25,000 s, monitored by 4 sensors. TIG performance is rated AC: ≥ 5 Amp and DC: ≥ 2 Amp. Controls and ergonomics include digital control type, an external Grind Button, pivot headgear with a quick adjust ratchet, magnifying lens holder and compatibility with cheater (inset) lenses; the helmet is hard hat capable and does not include a flip-up lens. Power for the ADF is supplied by (1) CR 2450 Lithium Battery and the product complies with ANSI Z87.1 and CSA Z94.3. Designed for industrial welding environments where auto-darkening protection and quick mode changes are required, the helmet’s 7 - 13 shade range and 1/25,000 s switch time support a broad span of arc welding intensities while the 4 sensors maintain ADF responsiveness. The specified TIG ratings (AC: ≥ 5 Amp; DC: ≥ 2 Amp) indicate suitability for low‑current TIG work as well as higher‑current arc welding within the stated shade range. Features such as the external grind button, grind/cut modes, magnifying lens holder, cheater lens compatibility, pivot headgear and quick adjust ratchet make the helmet appropriate for production fabrication, maintenance/repair, and shop environments where fit, repeatable adjustment and occasional grinding are part of normal workflows. The hard‑hat capability and compact cartridge/viewing area are practical for plant maintenance and construction weld booths where head protection integration and controlled visibility are required; battery‑powered digital controls simplify field use and service replacement of the single CR 2450 cell.
