Overview

Glow wire testing device GPD DIN EN IEC 60695-2-10 performs tests with a glow wire for evaluating fire hazard and is used to test the fire resistance properties of electrotechnical products and materials under IEC 60695-2-10, IEC 60695-2-11, IEC 60695-2-12 and IEC 60695-2-13. The glow wire temperature is set in the software and controlled via a temperature controller that is switched to manual mode during a test to achieve a fixed voltage signal at the control variable. The temperature at the glow wire is measured via an infrared sensor and can be set from 400 - 1000 °C. Contactless, wear-free temperature measurement of the glow wire is optionally available by a pyrometer. During a test the sample is moved back and forth at a constant speed of approx. 11 mm/s to the glow wire, with the dwell time between the sample and the glow wire variably set via a timer. The sample table is pulled against the glow wire with a force of 1 N. Specimens from 50 x 120 mm to 120 x 120 mm can be clamped in the specimen holder and specimen thickness can be a maximum of 20 mm; dimensions (specimen) are listed as max. 300 x 200 x 50 mm (W x H x D). The device is controlled by device software installed on a notebook or Mini PC, which controls the glow wire temperature and the linear drive of the sample holder carriage, displays the temperature of the pyrometer and the setting of the penetration depth, shows the effective value of the current flowing through the glow wire, starts tests and carries them out automatically. The equipment provides a timer-controlled test procedure with automatic sample retraction and automatic creation of the correlation chart in accordance with IEC 60695-2-10, B 3.2. Electrical travel of the test slide is provided. Supplies required are 230 VAC 50/60 Hz, 500 VA. Dimensions (testing device) are 570 x 630 x 360 mm (W x H x D) and weight (testing device) is approx. 30 kg. Optional accessories include a fume cupboard, pyrometer and laser visor for pyrometer adjustment, and the installation site requires a fume cupboard or combustion chamber with exhaust.
