LU35II

Overview

The LU35II is described as the latest evolution of Okuma's large 4-axis CNC turning centers and features two turrets. It includes 22 tool stations, two independent saddles, four power ranges, large hardened box guide ways, and a live quill tailstock, and uses the OSP CNC control system. The machine is available with a live tooling (M) configuration and the optional M (milling) function incorporates mill/drill capabilities in the upper turret. The LU35II is presented for highly efficient 4-axis machining of mid- to large-size parts. Two turrets are stated to offer dramatic improvements in process flexibility and cycle time when compared to 2-axis machines. The optional M (milling) function enables mill/drill secondary machining in the upper turret within one workholding for maximum accuracy and efficiency, and the Thermo-Friendly Concept and technologies remove the effects of temperature change to provide highly stable accuracy.
