Overview
The Auto-Epstein is a fully automated Epstein testing system that includes cutting and robotic handling and operates according to Measuring Standard IEC 60404-2. It is specified for 24hrs/day, 365 days/year operation and includes BROCKHAUS® MPG Expert software for measurement, presentation and integration into QM systems. Measurement capabilities include measuring frequencies 3 Hz to 20 kHz; field strength selectable 1 A/m up to 30000 A/m; polarization 1 mT up to 2 T; adjustment precision better than 0.2%; and repeatability better than 0.3%. The measuring method is acc. IEC 60404-2 and the system supports grain oriented and non grain oriented electrical steel. Sample size is Width: 250 mm; Length: 320 mm; Thickness: 0.25mm up to 0.65mm. The entrance magazine holds material for 100 Epstein sets and the power supply is 3 x 400 V AC, neutral, PE. All measurements with the MPG electrical steel tester are performed under the conditions described in IEC and other international standards, with equipment control of the secondary voltage waveform to achieve a sinusoidal secondary voltage with a form factor of 1.111 ±1%. Measuring processes are controlled by highly stable, crystal-controlled digital function generators to provide frequency and amplitude stability and high setting accuracy. Stacking Factor measurement is part of the described system and an output of up to 600 samples per day is possible (depending on individual design). The handling sequence for the system includes the following steps: 01. Input of entry magazine trolley into the measuring system; 02. Supply to shear and barcode reader, verification of number of sheets (double sheet control); 03. Cutting of single strips and marking of strips via Inkjet printer; 04. Transport to the balance via band storage; 05. Weighing of the complete Epstein set (2 packs); 06. Transport to the Epstein frame; 07. Loading of strips into Epstein frame; 08. Rotation of Epstein frame to measuring position and measurement of magnetic properties; 09. Removal from Epstein frame and stacking of Epstein sets; 10. Transport to Stacking Factor Tester; 11. Measurement of stacking factor; 12. Transport to taping unit; 13. Taping of Epstein set; 14. File in output magzine trolley. The Auto-Epstein performs fully automatic Epstein analysis including cutting, transportation of Epstein strips, and automatic loading, measuring and unloading of complete sets of Epstein strips into and out of an Epstein frame using the electrical steel tester MPG. The system performs measurements under IEC 60404-2 conditions and controls the secondary voltage waveform to achieve a sinusoidal secondary voltage with a form factor of 1.111 ±1%. The equipment includes Stacking Factor measurement and can produce an output of up to 600 samples per day (depending on individual design). Measurement data can be handled, presented and integrated into QM systems using BROCKHAUS® MPG Expert software, and the system is specified for continuous 24hrs/day, 365 days/year operation.
