Substation transformer
Eaton Corporation plc
Model Overview & Specs
Overview
Eaton’s Cooper Power series substation transformers are offered for new installations and retrofit solutions and are specified for indoor and outdoor use. Base rating is listed as 300-12,000 kVA in one specification and as 300 kVA to 12,500 kVA in another. Primary voltage is 2400-34,500 V (Delta or Wye) and secondary voltage listings include 208-15,000 V (25 kV available upon special request) and a ratings table showing 120 V to 24,940 V. Basic Impulse Level (BIL) ranges from 30 kV to 200 kV, additional forced-air ratings are +15%, +25%, +33% to base kVA, and fluids available are FR3 or mineral oil. Construction and enclosure features include cover-mounted or sidewall-mounted bushings, a wide range of core steels and winding conductors, flexible core/coil and tank construction, mild or stainless steel (304L) enclosures, cover or sidewall terminals, three-point latching and padlock air terminal chambers with recessed penta-head bolts, standard flanges and throats for close-coupling, and enclosure integrity that meets or exceeds ANSI/IEEE C57.12.28 and C57.12.29 if stainless construction. Standards and approvals include ANSI/IEEE C57.12.00 and C57.12.36, CSA C88-M90, NEMA TR-1 (sound level), and third-party recognition from FM Global and UL/cUL for most ratings. Designed for both new installations and retrofit solutions, these transformers support indoor and outdoor deployment. They can be supplied as close-coupled medium-voltage liquid-filled unit substations that integrate low- and medium-voltage assemblies in a streamlined unit substation design. Units can be configured for step-down and step-up power direction and for specialty designs addressing motor loads, harmonics, rectifier duty, K-factor and related requirements, and can be built for Class 1 Division 2 locations.
