Model Overview & Specs

Overview

FINISHING MILLS use three-dimensional Vibro-Energy motion that subjects parts and media to a consistent high frequency tilting movement as they travel in a helical/orbital path around the chamber. The motion produces a compressive scrubbing action that cleans parts, removes burrs, rounds sharp corners, and smooths out surface impressions. Vertical and horizontal amplitudes and the rate of vibration are completely adjustable to match finishing requirements. Model/type reference includes FMD-7LR FINISHING MILL. Batch Mills are designed for use with external separating systems, manual parts unloading, and processes that have no media where the entire load can be discharged out the bottom door. Long Radius Mills (DLR series) provide batch automatic and continuous finishing with internal parts/media separation using a swing blade and a fixed separation screen, and feature a long-radius toroidal chamber with excellent discharge characteristics. Spiral Mills (SLR series) use a long-radius spiral finishing chamber with fully-automatic parts/media separation via an air-operated discharge gate and a fixed separating screen, and offer long retention time of parts for single-pass applications. The Removable Center Column Mill incorporates a removable center column to run larger-than-normal parts, and finishing action adjustments are made by varying lead angle and motor weight settings without tools; sound levels have been reduced by the use of special materials and new fabrication techniques. The mills are available with 1, 3, 10, 14 and 23 cubic feet bowls. These finishing mills are used to clean parts and to remove burrs, round sharp corners, and smooth surface impressions through compressive scrubbing action. They are explicitly stated to perform deburring, flash removal, edge-breaking, metal clean-up, rough surface work, preplate finishing, radiusing, and precision surface reduction. Spiral (SLR) units are also specified for ball burnishing and media finishing. Batch Mills are used when external separating systems or manual unloading are required or when processes have no media and the entire load can be discharged out the bottom door. DLR and SLR series support batch automatic and continuous finishing with internal or fully-automatic parts/media separation, and the Removable Center Column Mill is used when larger-than-normal parts must be run in the mill.
