Overview

RailCarCaddy is an electric, battery-powered railcar mover designed to push and pull industrial rail cars and rolling stock. It uses low-speed, high-torque drive motors and a transaxle with adjustable acceleration and braking for precise, low-speed maneuvering; maximum travel speed is upwards of 3 mph. Control is via a variable-speed thump twist grip and the unit includes a battery discharge indicator for on-the-job state-of-charge monitoring. A front hydraulic lift transfers weight from the rail car to the RailCarCaddy to increase traction when moving heavy loads. The unit is rated to push and pull railcars up to 200k lbs and is intended for both indoor and outdoor operation. Typical applications are industrial yards, manufacturing plants, maintenance shops and material-handling facilities where powered movement of railcars is required without diesel emissions. The electric powertrain and compatibility with 120/220 AC chargers make it suitable for indoor use and multi-shift operation — battery life can last upwards of 8 hours a day under typical use. The variable-speed control and low maximum speed support precise spotting, coupling and short-distance transfer tasks; the hydraulic lift feature assists traction transfer for very heavy cars. Optional and configurable items — including safety horns, flashing pole and light, sealed AGM or Trojan battery options, enclosed chain guards and dual solid drive tires — allow adaptation for outdoor yards, night operations, washdown environments or maintenance-minimized deployments.
