SWG 505
Power Diagnostix Systems GmbH (PDIX)
Model Overview & Specs
Overview
The SWG 505 is a surge wave generator with voltage ranges of 3 kV, 4 kV, and 5 kV and an output of up to 500 J. It is optimised for surge energy delivery to switchable capacitors and allows each voltage stage to use the full surge energy of 500 J. The unit is mains powered and is described as the smallest, lightest, and least expensive surge wave generator. Product documentation includes a data sheet (SWG_DS_EN.pdf, 304.12 KB) and a user guide (man_swg505_en.pdf, 485.88 KB). Together with reflectometers, the SWG 505 is a central component of cable fault location and is used for both pre-locating and pinpointing faults. The SWG 505 is positioned for situations where flexibility, portability, and price-to-performance ratio are more important than attaining the highest voltage or surge energy.
