MiCOM Agile P24x

Overview

The MiCOM Agile P24x is part of the MiCOM P40 platform and offers motor protection, control and monitoring for both induction and synchronous motors with up to 10 RTD inputs. The relays provide enhanced diagnostics and fault analysis, optimized machine thermal image monitoring and customized thermal curves, and include ambient temperature compensation for thermal overload protection. Hardware and communications features include current loop analogue inputs and outputs, RTD and CLIO (current-loop I/O) hardware options, binary inputs ESI48-4 EB2 compliant, harsh environment protection, and no internal batteries in GE Vernova-branded models. A redundant IEC 61850 Ethernet card is software-switchable between PRP/HSR/RSTP/Hot standby and implements Advanced IEC61850 Ed.2; the enhanced Ethernet board module supports PRP, HSR and RSTP in one model, handles high density traffic in IEC 61850-8-1 with time latency halved, and extends HSR ring support to up to 50 nodes. Protection, supervision and control functions are provided via user-programmable operate/reset curves for thermal, overcurrent and earth fault protection and include loss of field, out of step, anti backspin, loss of load, 3 phase volt check, phase reversal, VTS, CTS, comprehensive start sequence and re-acceleration scheme, plus programmable scheme logic; ANSI device functions listed include 50/51, 50N/51N, 50BF, 66, 37, 46, 32R, 47, 49, 40, 87, 27/59, 27abs, 59N, 81U, 48/51LR, 51S, 51LR, 55, 14, RTD, CTS, VTS, PSL and TCS. The product family includes models P241, P242 and P243 and is supported by the MiCOM S1 Agile PC toolsuite for device management, setting conversion and real-time measurement visualization. The MiCOM Agile P24x is explicitly described for motor protection, control and monitoring of induction and synchronous motors, providing functions such as thermal overload protection, start sequence and re-acceleration, anti backspin detection and auto restart following supply interruption. It is also presented as a direct refurbishment and upgrade path for older relays from the installed base (MiCOM P240, MCHN, MCHG, MOPN, Motpro and heritage products), supporting a pin-pin upgrade methodology with settings conversion via MiCOM S1 Agile. The P24x is suitable for applications requiring redundant Ethernet communications because a single P40 model supports switchable PRP/HSR/RSTP/Hot standby and HSR rings up to 50 nodes as described.
