RH2 Rail Head Hardening

Overview

RH2 Rail Head Hardening is an in line hardening system for rail heads. The system has a modular design for the treatment of any rail length up to 150 m. It achieves hardness conforming to any worldwide standards and provides uniform cooling and uniform properties along the entire rail length, including the cross section. The process features easy process control for consistent and repeatable product quality and a fast learning curve, together with high operating flexibility. The system offers lower production costs compared to spray systems (in the range of 5-10%) and an ROI of < 2.5 years considering 100,000 t of premium rails per year. The RH2 is used for in-line hardening of rail heads to meet hardness requirements and to produce uniform properties along the rail, including across the cross section. Its modular design supports treatment of rails up to 150 m and its operating and cost characteristics target lower production costs versus spray systems, with an expected ROI of < 2.5 years when considering 100,000 t of premium rails per year.
